About Us

Living on a mountain here in North Idaho several years ago, we learned just how difficult it can be to sell anything from the back roads. And now with so many places shutting down, we decided as a family to put off building a home of our own and invest our personal savings to provide a place for the locals to buy and sell, especially goods that are fitting to the needs and desires of North Idaho.

In addition, we would like to resurrect and honor the history of North Idaho. With the help of the CDA museum and some locals, we plan to begin building scenes of history within the store. At the same time we want to provide a “home away from home” atmosphere. We plan to serve at least one hot meal until we can find someone to partner with us to expand the menu that suits the theme of Mountain Traders.

Our goal is to serve this community as a Trading Post between the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains in North Idaho, and to provide a place for people to get to know their neighbors and their neighbor’s needs. We want to be a fine place for the weary traveler to stop, rest, and shop.

There is a sincere heart behind Mountain Traders that cannot be completely explained here, but we hope will become evident in time.

Mountain Traders has a lot to offer, with much more on the way. We hope you will help support your local neighbors and join us as consignors and as customers.
